この椅子は、ヤクモ家具製作所がある島根県出雲地方の蕎麦に由来しています。出雲の蕎麦は、小さな器を重ねて提供する「割子（わりご）」が一般的で、味の違いを楽しめたり、少しずつ追加できたりする魅力があります。その可変性や組み合わせの自由さを今のライフスタイルに活かせないかと考えました。場所やシーンに合わせて座面と背もたれの自由な組み合わせを楽しめる、コンパクトでフレキシブルな椅子が完成しました。

This chair is inspired by the bowl used for soba, a traditional Japanese food.

Izumo soba is typically served in “warigo,” small bowls stacked on top of each other. The appeal is being able to enjoy different flavors and add a little at a time.

We wondered if this versatility and wide range of combinations could be utilized in today’s lifestyles.

We have created a compact, flexible chair that allows you to freely combine the seat and backrest to suit the location and occasion.
