椅子の新機軸、静岡から
家具５大産地のひとつとして栄えた静岡。主に箪笥やドレッサーなどの「箱物」を生産してきました。近年ではこれらの需要変化に伴い、椅子やテーブルなどの「脚物」への変容に挑む作り手も増えています。私は、そうした背景の静岡で約２０年間、椅子のデザインに携わりました。これらの成果を見返す時、改めて、静岡だからこそ生まれたデザインが多い事に気付かされます。それは、先を行く脚物産地とは異なる技術を模索し、新たな価値を追求した椅子です。私は皆さんと共に、「静岡の椅子」を探し続けたいと考えています。そして近い将来、静岡の椅子が脚物の「新機軸」として広がることを願っています。
